Which PAM-STAMP Example Should You Start With?

There are plenty of controls to learn, but following them on one complete example is much easier than starting a different model for every post.

For a first practice path, I would begin with Front Hood Reinforcement. The supplied Examples Manual identifies it as an installation example, and the documentation includes its walkthrough.

Show the practice folder before the model

The catalogue gives the relative location Examples/Standard_Forming/Front_Hood_Reinforcement for its tutorial and data. Look under your actual installation or training-data location.

You need the matching model files, not only the PDF. If the folder contains just documentation, obtain the dataset through your authorised training or software access before trying to reproduce the calculation.

Keep the original data and make a working copy. Note the tutorial version as well: the supplied walkthrough carries a 2024 date, while this series starts with the 2025 software.

Use one model through the beginner posts

Begin with project creation, CAD import, the blank and tool building. The prepared die-design route may transfer definitions automatically; a plain IGES route can require more manual work.

Continue through process setup, launching and results. Once that is comfortable, follow trimming, springback and a controlled variation.

For each step, write what was already supplied and what you changed. That makes the exercise much easier to explain to another beginner.

What can you try afterward?

The 2022 Examples Manual lists Hood Inner and C-Pillar for further standard forming, Door Inner for a tailored blank, and NUMISHEET 2008 BM03 for hot forming.

It also identifies training topics for cosmetic defects, assembly, roll hemming, superplastic forming and macro creation. These are catalogue leads. The list does not establish that all those files are installed or currently available through your account.

Choose one that matches the next question you want to learn, then obtain its complete instructions and data. Link it to tailored blanks, hot forming or roll hemming as appropriate.

Keep a small learning record

Save the baseline, one deliberate change and the resulting comparison. Add your own screenshots and explain what surprised you once you have actually run it.

That is where your own experience adds something the manual cannot provide for you. The tutorial index keeps the general explanations together while you work through the example.
